  • INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS DAY: PAK In the Limelight for Paperless Procedures

The port authority was honoured with the highest award for its action in facilitating the streamlining of international trade procedures.

On 26 January 2024, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) attended with distinction the 70th edition of the International Customs Day under the theme “Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose”.

On the Air Base 101 forecourt in Yaoundé, the PAK exhibition booth stood out, attracting an array of visitors including high profile general managers, representatives of professional, international and diplomatic organisations, as well as Government officials.

The event was an opportunity to show PAK commitment in forging and strengthening strategic ties to foster international trade. On this occasion, the port authority received the International Merit Award for its trailblazing role in streamlining customs procedures. The Custom administration commended and hailed PAK for its role as catalyst in the digitisation and the facilitation of cargo transit, namely by interconnecting its port information system (SIP) with the customs administration system (CAMCIS), a first in Cameroon as this works only in Kribi.

This award is a glaring sign to acknowledge PAK significant impact in improving trade, which is thus an evidence of the spirit of cooperation and innovation promoted by the International Customs Day.
